Frequently Asked Questions

Making sense of the "elephants in the room."

1. The Method: Why Organifanten?

What is Organifanten, and who is it for? Organifanten helps you make sense of situations at work that feel “off”: recurring friction, avoided topics, or decisions that don't add up. It is designed for leaders, consultants, and agile coaches who need a structured space to reflect on organizational dynamics before jumping into "fix-it" mode.

How is this different from tools like Jira or Trello? Tools like Jira manage tasks (the what). Organifanten manages tensions (the why). It works one step earlier: before you have a clear ticket or a defined solution. It helps you ground your actions in actual understanding rather than reactive fire-fighting.

Isn’t this just overthinking instead of acting? It’s the opposite: it’s deliberate action. Organifanten prevents you from wasting energy on "solutions" that don't address the root cause. You still act, but your interventions are more surgical and better understood.

Why wouldn’t I just use a notebook? A notebook is a graveyard for isolated notes. Organifanten adds a learning structure: it connects your observations to your actions and tracks the results over time. It turns "I think I noticed something" into a visible history of organizational change.

How much time does this take? Organifanten is built for "micro-reflection." Logging a tension takes 2 minutes; adding an insight takes 30 seconds. It isn't about writing essays:. It is about capturing high-value signals as they happen so you don't lose the pattern.

2. Core Concepts: Tensions, Moments & Systems

What is a tension? A tension is a raw observation. It is a signal that something is wrong, unclear, or contradictory.

  • It is: “We keep discussing the same topic in meetings, but never reach a decision.”

  • It is not (yet): A task, a ticket, or a blame-game.

How do I engage with tensions? You can evolve your understanding of a tension with threeelements:

  1. Insight: “I realize we lack a clear decision-maker here.”

  2. Intervention: “I will propose a RACI matrix for the next meeting.”

  3. Effect: “The meeting ended 10 minutes early with a clear outcome.”

What is the difference between a tension and an intervention? A tension is a question you are asking of the system. An intervention is an experiment you run to find the answer. You don't start with actions; they emerge naturally as your understanding improves.

What is a private cloud and a system? A system is the part of the organization you are looking at (e.g., "The Marketing Team"). A private cloud is your safe workspace where you store the tensions you notice for that specific system. Each private cloud focuses on one system to keep your context clear.

3. Privacy & Accounts

Can my team see my tensions? No. Privacy is a core feature. Sensemaking requires a "safe space" where you can record unfinished thoughts and messy observations without needing to be "right" or polished. Everything in your private clouds is visible only to you.

Can multiple people work on the same tensions? Not yet. Organifanten is currently optimized for individual reflection. We believe the most powerful insights often come from a single observer connecting the dots first.

How many workspaces and systems can I have?

  • Workspaces: Up to 5 active private clouds.
  • Systems/Tensions/Moments: Unlimited.

Priority: You can drag and drop tensions to reflect what’s most important to you right now.

What happens if I delete my account? All data, including your systems, tensions, and history, is permanently deleted. We do not keep "ghost" copies; your data is yours.

4. Getting Started

Do I need to have a tension in mind to register? No. You can sign up, model your system (defining roles like "Team Lead" or units like "Department"), and wait for the first "elephant" to appear in the room.

How do I get started? Sign up with your email and organization name. You’ll be guided through a quick onboarding where you can name your first system and log your first tension. You’ll be up and running in less than 3 minutes.
