Activity 47
Other people often see our growth before we do. This lesson creates a structured moment for teammates to name what they have witnessed in each other. It is different from the appreciation in Activity 42, which focused on valued qualities. This focuses on development, on the distance between who someone was at the start and who they are now.
Development is hard to see from the inside. You know you have changed, but the change happened gradually, through dozens of small moments that did not feel significant at the time. A teammate who was paying attention saw things you missed. They noticed when you started speaking up earlier in meetings. They noticed when you paused before reacting. They noticed when you asked a question instead of giving an answer. These observations are gifts because they confirm something you hoped was true but could not verify alone. The active listening from Activity 13, the empathy from Activities 14 and 15, and the feedback practices from Activities 20 and 21 all made this kind of noticing possible. Without those earlier skills, this exercise would produce vague encouragement. With them, it produces genuine recognition that lands because it is specific and earned.
Outcomes
I can observe and articulate growth in my teammates with specificity and care.
