Activity 8
A team that cannot talk about how it works together will keep repeating the same mistakes. The retrospective gives you a structured moment to pause, name what is happening, and decide what to do about it. It is simple and it is powerful.
Pause and speak openly about how you work together. What's going well, where are the sticking points? Each person names one thing to keep or change.
Every team develops unspoken rules about what can and cannot be discussed — and the unspeakable is where most dysfunction hides. The retrospective makes it normal to name friction, creating a shared language for how collaboration actually feels rather than how it is supposed to feel. This closes Level 2 by building on the informal relationships from Activities 5 through 7 and turning them into honest reflection. Sensemaking — jointly interpreting what is going well and what is not — synchronizes how the team thinks and acts.
Outcomes
I know how to create a regular moment to speak openly about the team experience.
